As I write this, our country is still tragically divided.

The 2020 elections are still on people’s minds since they were paper-thin – the difference between winning and losing was often 1% or less. That means regardless of how you voted, there was someone out there that canceled your vote, almost.

The United States is very divided right now and it’s getting ugly.

The Coronavirus has continued to change our daily lives. We didn’t say “social distancing” more than a year ago. Then, schools were open for in-classroom attendance. Then, hoodies were not allowed at the corner store; now masks are required.

What did your Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations look like last year? Probably not like it was before the pandemic. In some major metro areas, hospitals are still reaching capacity even now. The coronavirus vaccine has been available for about a year and people are divided on it as well. Some don’t want to take it.

These Are Uncertain Times

None of this has caught God by surprise. He is aware of it all and He has a plan.

He sent His son Jesus to each of us if we will receive Him, and that means a lot! As Christ-followers, we are heirs with Him; adopted into God’s family. Yes, some of us will die but as believers, our eternity will be in heaven, not hell.

In Romans 8:34, we are told Jesus is at the right hand of God, interceding for us. In Hebrews 7:25, He tells us that He always lives to intercede for us. Ephesians 3:12 tells us through Christ, we may approach God with freedom and confidence. By faith in Jesus, we can pray directly to God and He will hear us.
And sometimes the answer will be “no”.

The flip side of that “no” is that by being obedient to God and accepting “no”, we will be where God wants us to be in the center of His will for us.

Jesus is Also on My Personal Throne for TODAY

Right now for my lifetime, He is with me through His Holy Spirit guiding me, bringing comfort, and helping me deal with all this chaos that is swirling around. Remember, we are living in a broken world full of sin and all that goes with it.
Our human goal from a worldly standpoint is comfort and security

We want this world to follow OUR rules. It’s not going to do it!

The only way to stay in this mess and come through it with peace, joy, and contentment is through your relationship with Jesus…right now. Listen to what the apostle Paul said about it:
1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. 3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body, God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. 4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit. 5 Those who are dominated by sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.
9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) 10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
12 Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. 13 For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. 17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ, we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.”

Being a Christian is a Way of Life

Everyday.
Where we spend eternity is much more important than what we do today with our life- comfort and security; how we live our lives, the decisions we make today are what determine where we actually spend eternity.

Choose Christ, not temporarily indulging yourself while you are alive.

And when you do mess up and sin, the Bible tells us in 1 John 2:1 “…But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense- Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.”

He IS on the Throne!

We don’t have to do it perfectly.
All we have to do is bring our “loaves and fish” to the One that can make chicken salad out of chicken feathers– every time!
